The Ashigaru Katana :
The Ashigaru were foot soldiers of medieval Japan, the first recorded reference to them has been found as early as 1300. Originally in the 10th Century the Ashigaru were peasants and land/farm workers to the wealthy land owners (who later became samurai) and were called to war when the land owners were requested to gather troops. It has been suggested that the ashigaru favoured a straight blade sword as apposed the curved sword that was used by the samurai

Musashi Ichi Katana :
Miamoto Musashi lived from 1584 to 1645 and was one of Japan's most famous samurai. He is referred to as one of the best Japanese swordsman, as well as a famed artist he was the founder of Nito Ryu, two handed swordsmanship. The Musashi Ichi Katana has a handforged high carbon steel blade with a fine hamon and has been tempered traditionally. The sharp blade features a bo-hi (fuller) to reduce the total weight. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, and is traditionally wrapped in black cotton. The tang is especially long and fixed with two bamboo pegs (mekugi).The scabbard (saya) is made of wood and deeply lacquered in black. A free wooden display box is included with this sword.

Noh Katana:
The tsuba of this katana features actors of the traditional Japanese Noh-theatre, which originates from the 13th century and is still today very popular. The Noh Katana has a handforged blade made of carbon steel with a fine hamon and has been tempered traditionally. The sharp blade features a hi (fuller) to reduce the total weight. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, has been coated with real fish skin and features two menukis. In addition it has been traditionally wrapped in red cotton. The tang is especially long and fixed with two bamboo pegs (mekugi). The scabbard (saya) is made of wood and has a red high gloss finish. The blade collar (habaki) is made of brass. This comes with a free wooden display box.

Arai Mizu Practical Katana Ronin Katana :
This fully hand forged Practical Katana features an 11 3/4th inch double pinned brown cord wrapped tsuka (handle) with genuine same (ray skin). The antiqued copper tsuba displays the turbulent waves of an oncoming tsunami. The saya is a black on black textured pattern with brown cord wrapping. This katana is hand forged 1095 high carbon steel and is clay tempered with a natural high polished hamon on the 27 1/2 inch fullered (Bo-hi) blade. The Arai Mizu Practical Katana is well suited for tameshigiri and other forms of cutting exercises done by those with proper training and supervision.
